POOL Tradeshow

Feb 11 2012

This art and design driven tradeshow is committed to connecting fashion and art. After careful research I felt POOL was a great fit, so I applied to be a vendor. I kept my fingers crossed and got accepted. All vendors were encouraged to submit artwork to tie into the show brochure. I took the challenge and submitted some pieces. I'm happy to know the jury selected one. Top one made the cut! Looking forward to see it in print in Las Vegas. www.pooltradeshow.com

Ladders & Jewelry

Jan 04 2012

Accessories don't have to be stowed away in your closet or drawer. Equal parts decorative and functional, there is always a purpose for a ladder in every home. Each rung can smartly display your most eye catching pieces. You can play with your personal collection to create your own color and texture compositions. I think it's a pretty tasteful approach to using a ladder.

End of the Year

Dec 22 2011

I can't believe 2011 is coming to a close. Holidays are here and a new year approaches. Perhaps now is a good time to pause and reflect...

At one of my last jewelry shows this year a charming kind customer told me she loved my website and always checked my blog. "You know, you haven't updated in awhile! I love reading blogs and would love to know what is going on behind the scenes with you." My heart sank. I just get heavily wrapped up in design, and business development that I've let the blog opportunity slide. I love connecting with my clients in person and talking one on one. I've met several women (and gift giving men!) through the jewelry pieces I've created for them. It is inspiring for me to be connected by a mutual admiration of a small piece of art that simply makes you feel special. So, I'd like to connect with my readers more by posting more news, insights and such. Feel free to write back. I do listen to your comments, suggestions and questions.

A huge hug and thank you to my lovely highly motivated assistant Sunny! Yes her name says it all. She is truly bright. I'll never forget that one late night in March we were getting close to the finishing touches of a large catalog order. Drinking coffee, listening to loud music and bursting into random dance moves to keep us awake. It was 3am and I kept telling her that she should go home and I'd just finish up tagging the jewelry in the morning.  Sunny strongly said "Sara I'm not leaving until we are done! We can totally do this." She has a rock hard work ethic and she's become a great friend. Thanks for all you do girl.

Klutch was the latest addition to the stores offering my collection this year. Definitely talk to Elizabeth, the store owner, for some fashion inspiration. Her design selection is refreshing and well made. In 2011 Klutch was awarded best handbags in St. Louis by St. Louis Magazine. I have to add, I'm in love with the yoga clothing towards the back of the store. www.klutchstyle.com

Pool Tradeshow in Las Vegas has been on my mind these last two months. I've been accepted as a wholesale vendor for the February market so I'll be making more connections with store owners across the U.S. It will be my first show of this kind. It's concept, my business plan and the timing seem to fit really well.

I have a collection of nature inspired 14k gold and silver pieces under development that I will unveil late January. I know, pretty vague but I promise to not disappoint. Gorgeous stones and organic figures. They are close to complete, but I don't want to jinx it! Ok, well a couple photos won't hurt...

I'm currently writing from Bogota, Colombia spending time with family and coming across inspiration for jewelry. Having this time to be away from my studio has also givin me time to catch my breath and review. My collection is blooming, so I'm grateful for the fans of my jewelry, Sunny's hard work, wonderful store owners and goals like Pool Tradeshow that keep me motivated.

I hope you also notice the things that keep you happy and continue to pursue them in 2012. Thanks for reading, enjoy your holidays and have a safe and bright new year!

Just grinding away over here, trying to develop some fresh ideas for spring. You'll note three things from these photos: 1. Shimmery white topaz stones! 2. I love mixing 14k gold and sterling silver..duh you already knew that. 3. I'm in desperate need of a manicure. :)

Custom Compass

Dec 13 2010

We all have that great girl friend that lives far off in a neighboring city, distant state or country. You don't talk everyday, week or month but once you hear her distinct "hello" over the phone, it feels like your last conversation was a few days ago. You can imagine her smile the moment she talks.

I had a friend, Tracey, ask me to craft a piece: a sturdy, sterling silver, romantic, antiqued compass for her long distance friend.  Tracey wanted to give the compass to acknowledge the long distance between them, but to also remind each other that distance just doesn't matter anymore...they'll always be able to connect. I love Tracey's concept, and enjoyed bringing it to life.
